We'll walk step by step through choosing your tote and choosing which part to feature on the front and back of your basket. In this 2-hour session the majority of attendees will finish their basket!
They come in all sorts of materials and sizes. We'll discuss which one to start with, and after your first one you'll be comfortable making baskets with anything.
Grab a half yard of fabric or two. We won't need it all - and some of you will get away with a FQ - but I want us to have plenty to play with.
A simple worksheet will give you the measurements you need to make your perfect basket. If you can add and divide by 2, you'll be fine!
Super simple straight lines ONLY. An 18x12" cutting matter and a standard quilting ruler or square will be all you need. Both rotary cutter and scissor friendly!
A simple straight stitch is all we need to make our baskets. Choose a neutral thread to match your tote - but at the end we'll have an opportunity for some contrast. If you have a 12-30 wt thread you might want to keep it handy for our finale!
A few swipes with an iron and we'll be all set!
You'll get the recording afterwards and be able to access it for a whole year!

Still putting the B in Byrne - I've been sewing and quilting most of my life.
Originally from England, now living in Oakland, California, I teach online and in-person across the Bay Area. My specialities are as diverse as dyeing, sewing, candle making, UV resin and more. As well as teaching I also love experimenting with different styles of quilting, which I also lectures on. I have more than twenty years of teaching experience in three countries and love to help others feel the joy of making.
